Request your interview schedule
The Center for Career Development (CCD) uses Handshake to assist you in managing your campus interview schedule.
Interviews are held Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and can be hosted virtually or in-person this fall semester. There are no fees for interviewing.
Click the ‘Request an Interview’ button from your home screen in Handshake, choose Rice University, and complete the steps to request your preferred date and rooms needed. Interview and room requests need to be approved by the Center for Career Development. You will receive notice once the interview date has been confirmed. Any changes to the interview schedule must be communicated to the CCD before students begin signing up for their interview times.
Interview Schedule Types
When creating your interview request in Handshake, you can choose from the following schedule types:
Pre-select
Specify both an application period and a signup period. From the students who have applied, you will select and "invite" students to sign up for an interview on your schedule. You can select primary and alternate student candidates after the application period. Primaries are allowed to sign up before alternates based on dates you select.
Room Only
Choosing this type simply reserves a room. You advertise your opportunity outside of the system and contact students directly to schedule interviews. Please note that students cannot view positions attached to room only positions.
Open
Students who precisely match your criteria can schedule their interviews online on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Open schedule works well if you are signing up on short notice, don’t have time to review resumes and make selections, or are willing to interview anyone who meets your criteria.
