The Advisory Board of the Center for Career Development advances the mission of supporting all Rice students and alumni as they find and make their places in the world. Members of the Board enthusiastically champion, advocate for, and participate in the activities of the CCD.

Shikha Avancha

Strategy Manager - Health Tech, Johnson & Johnson
Ms. Avancha graduated from Rice in 2019 with a degree in Computer Science.

Piyush Bhargava

Vice President Global Operations, Dell Technologies
Mr. Bhargava received an MBA from the University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business, a master's in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Lehigh University, and a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Donald Bowers

Vice President, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas
Mr. Bowers graduated from Rice in 1991 with a degree in Managerial Studies. He went on to Sam Houston State University to earn an MBA in 2010.

Jonathan Cary

Director of Talent Acquisition, ServiceNow
Mr. Cary graduated from Rice in 2008 with a degree in Managerial Studies and Sports Management.

John Eldridge

Partner, Haynes & Boone, LLP
Mr. Eldridge graduated from Rice in 1975 with a degree in Anthropology. He went on to pursue a law degree in 1980 from the University of Texas.

Michael Gonzalez

Asst. Medical Director and Director of Trauma, Baylor College of Medicine, Ben Taub Emergency Center
Dr. Gonzalez graduated from Rice in 1993 with degrees in Economics and Political Science. He also earned an MD from the University of Texas Houston in 2000.

Sten Gustafson

Mr. Gustafson graduated from Rice in 1989 with a degree in English. He also earned a JD from the University of Houston.

Hailey Haut

Business Analyst, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas
Ms. Haut graduated from Rice in 2017 with a degree in Economics.

Tawfik Jarjour

Mr. Jarjour graduated from Rice in 2012 with degrees in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and Cognitive Sciences.

Michael Maher

Senior Program Advisor, Baker Institute (Retired, ExxonMobil)
Dr. Maher graduated from Rice in 1975 with a degree in Economics. He went on to earn a Ph.D. from Rice in 1980.

Kimberly Smith

Partner, Prais+Barnette and Advisor, Athenian Consulting Solutions

Ms. Smith graduated from Rice in 2000 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. She also earned an MBA from the New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business in 2005.

Carmen Reznik

Manager, Shell Chemical
Dr. Reznik received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Rice in 2011. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston in 1992.

Cathryn Rodd Selman

Retired, ExxonMobil Corporation
Ms. Selman graduated from Rice in 1978 with degrees in History and Economics. She went on to earn an MBA from Harvard in 1982.

Shawn Simmons

Environmental & Regulatory Manager, ExxonMobil Corporation
Dr. Simmons received her Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from Rice in 1999. She also earned a Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology from Texas Southern University and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.

Robert Taylor
