Fall 2021 On-Campus Recruiting

The CCD is more excited than ever to host recruiting events for the Fall 2021 semester. Our office will be offering both virtual and in-person information sessions for our employer partners. Rice will be operating at a normal, or near normal, capacity this semester and we are offering both in person and virtual expo and recruiting options so our employer partners can choose the format that will best achieve their recruiting goals. We will continue to closely monitor both the CDC’s and Rice’s personal policy regarding COVID-19. Please reach out to Ann McAdam Griffin at amg@rice.edu if you have any questions or have new ideas on how to connect with Rice students.

Request your interview schedule

The Center for Career Development (CCD) uses Handshake to assist you in managing your on-campus interview schedule.

Interviews are held Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and can be hosted virtually or in person this fall semester. There are no fees for interviewing.

Click the ‘Request an Interview’ button from your home screen in Handshake, choose Rice University, and complete the steps to request your preferred date and rooms needed. Interview and room requests need to be approved by the Career Center. You will receive notice once the interview date has been confirmed. Any changes to the interview schedule must be communicated to the CCD before students begin signing up for their interview times.

On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) Models

When creating your interview schedule request in Handshake, you can choose from the following OCR Models:

Pre-select

Specify both an application period and a signup period. From the students who have applied, you will select and "invite" students to sign up for an interview on your schedule. You can select primary and alternate student candidates after the application period. Primaries are allowed to sign up before alternates based on dates you select.

Room Only

Choosing this type simply reserves a room. You advertise your opportunity outside of the system and contact students directly to schedule interviews. Please note that students cannot view positions attached to room only positions.

Open

Students who precisely match your criteria schedule their interviews online on a first-come, first-served basis. The Open schedule works well if you are setting up a schedule on short notice, don’t have time to review resumes and make selections, or are willing to interview anyone who meets your criteria.
