On-Campus Interviews

Take advantage of all the companies coming on campus to interview you by exploring the list of On-Campus Recruiting schedules at the bottom of the page

First, you’ll need to apply, following each organization’s deadline for resume submission. You’ll find all the information you need to know in RICElink: Powered by Handshake. Carefully review the instructions below and let us know if you have any questions! All interviews are in Huff House or the Fondren Library unless otherwise noted. Please note your interview location in Handshake before arrival.

  1. Log in to RICElink: Powered by Handshake using the login box on your left.
  2. Go to the "Profile" tab and make sure ALL of your information is correct.
  3. Under the "Attend tab" on the left hand navigation bar, select "Interviews".
  4. Use filters to narrow your search, or just browse through the companies listed.
  5. Click on the company name when you are ready to apply, and submit your application by clicking "Apply" in the top right corner of your screen.
See an interview schedule listed as Room Only? That means the employer is scheduling interviews on their own, outside of the Handshake system. Employers often have Room Only schedules the day after the career expo with students they met there - another great reason to attend the expo, get your questions answered, and maybe even get an interview!

Please note that being selected as an alternate does not guarantee you an interview slot; there may be a few slots available or none at all based on the employer's interview schedule, the number of primaries they have selected, and if each primary accepts their interview slot.

STUDENT ON-CAMPUS RECRUITING (OCR) POLICIES


Rice University regards every on-campus interview as a serious commitment for students as well as employers. In order to maintain professional relationships with interviewing organizations - and to help you demonstrate to potential employers the professionalism of Rice students and alumni - we have developed the following policies for scheduling and canceling on-campus interviews.

Thoroughly research the employer and the positions posted and apply (to interview) only if you have a sincere interest in that employer. Do not use on-campus interviews to further your research or to practice your interview skills. If you would like to practice your interview skills, schedule a mock interview with one of our counselors. Mock interviews may be scheduled in RICElink: Powered by Handshake.

The CCD provides On-Campus Recruiting as a service to the Rice Community. When students participate in On-Campus Recruiting activities, they are acting as representatives for themselves and for Rice University. As a professional courtesy, the CCD requires all students participating in OCR to cancel in advance if they cannot attend a scheduled interview. When you fail to cancel or do not show for an interview, your actions reflect poorly on  you and Rice University. Additionally, no-shows may deprive another student of a valuable opportunity and can create serious implications for Rice's relationships with employers. Therefore, the CCD has the following Cancellation and No-Show Policy requirements:


Contact the CCD: Please email or call (713) 348-4055 within 48 hours before the interview date.

Late Cancellations and No-Shows:
        

First Violation: If you cancel an interview with less than 48 hours notice or fail to show up for an interview, you account will be suspended from OCR pending a successful appeal process. The CCD will inform you of your suspension, and any employers affected by these penalties may reach out to you for an explanation. During your suspension period, you will not have access to OCR. However, you are expected to attend all previously scheduled interviews during this time. If you need to obtain a copy of your interview schedule, email or call the CCD. 

Second Violation: A second late cancellation or no-show will result in permanent removal from OCR in RICElink.

Appeal Procedures: Email the CCD with the following:

  • All interview details (date, time, etc.)
  • Proof of your apology email to the employer
  • An explanation of your cancellation or no show
  • Any supporting documentation
Upon receipt of this information, the CCD will review your appeal and inform you of the final decision.
