What is Handshake?
Handshake is Rice University’s career
management system where employers can post jobs, schedule on campus interviews
and information sessions, and register for career fairs. For more Handshake
information and support, visit the Handshake support website.
How do I create a
Select the ‘Employer’ field at rice.joinhandshake.com/register. You will be asked to pick your organization from a list or
create a new one. Any company whose email domain matches yours will be
suggested. When creating your account, please use your organization email
address, not a personal email address.
How do I post a job?
Select the 'Create a Job' button from your
Handshake homepage. Having difficulty posting? For a job posting walk-through
in Handshake, we recommend viewing their guide at the Handshake support website. Click the Help tab at the top of your screen to contact tech
support via chat.
How do I host an information
session on campus?
Information sessions are a great way to
promote your company’s opportunities and interact with potential candidates
before your interviews. These sessions allow students to get to know your
organization beyond the job description. You may also create a specialized
session unique to your organization (i.e., alumni panel, interview preparation,
simulation, competition, industry-specific panel or presentation). Information
sessions are held from 4-5:30pm and 6-7:30pm in the Huff House. We also offer
an additional 8-9:30pm slot during peak times.
To request an Information Session, log in to Handshake and select the ‘Create an Event’ button in the center of your
screen on the right.
How do I request a schedule for On Campus Recruiting?
Interviews are held Monday - Friday, 8:30
a.m. - 5:00 p.m. in the interview rooms at the Huff House. We're also pleased
to offer use of the Fondren Library study rooms for overflow during peak times.
There are no fees for interviewing.
Click the ‘Request an Interview’ button from
your home screen in Handshake, choose Rice University, and complete the steps
to request your preferred date and rooms needed. Interview and room requests
need to be approved by the Career Center. You will receive notice once the
interview date has been confirmed. Any changes to the interview schedule need
to be communicated to us before students begin signing up for their interview
How can I get
information about my jobs and events to students?
Handshake is the best place for sharing your
event and job/internship information with Rice students and alumni. Email us
your flyers if you would like them shared through social media; we find that
the most successful advertisements contain pictures/graphics and short phrases
rather than heavy text.
Do you have resume
Handshake allows customizable searching of
students by class level, major, and other filters. Resumes for these
students can be generated in bulk to a PDF document. Because of these search
features, we will no longer be providing resume books as a service.

I need some help

support.’ You can also click on ‘Support Portal’ to view frequently asked
questions about the system.
