Other Resources for Connecting with Rice Alumni

We have gathered a list of resources for connecting with Rice alumni in addition to the OWL Career Mentor Network.  For career-related inquiries, such as asking for industry insight, and informational interview, or advice on the job search process, we recommend starting with the OWL Career Mentor Network.  Below are some additional tools:

LinkedIn Alumni Tool

One of the best resources for connecting with alumni is the new LinkedIn Alumni tool.  This new feature pulls the profiles of all Rice alumni on LinkedIn, over 28,000, and sorts them in to categories through which you can quickly search.  You can sort the results by where they work, what they studied, where they live, and more.

You can access the Alumni Tool by going to "Network" and then "Find Alumni" when logged in to LinkedIn.  When you first go to the Alumni Tool, LinkedIn pulls up your school and your graduation years.  You can expand these years at the top of the page where it says "Attended."

You can toggle the bar graphs to narrow the search by where they live, work, do, what they studied, what their skilled at, and how you are connected. As you narrow the search, the list below displays the Rice alumni that fit your search and you can view their profiles or Connect with them.

We recommend you take a look at this tool as it pulls an enormous group of alums!  LinkedIn has gotten very smart about what it can do for its members.  This is an impressive new feature!

Alumni Groups

The Association of Rice Alumni has over 50 alumni affinity, interest, academic, and regional groups.  These groups provide opportunities for members of the Rice community to unite around common interests based on shared interests, background, or geographical location.  These groups could also be a useful networking resource for current students and recent graduates looking for connections.

Rice Alumni Affinity Groups:

Affinity groups are largely Houston-based groups that are formed on the basis of shared ethnicity, professional pursuits, leisure activities and other common interests. For a complete list of current affinity groups, please click here.  If you are interested in effective ways to connect with fellow alumni around a shared interest, please contact Dan Stypa, associate director of alumni programs, at stypa@rice.edu

Rice Alumni Regional Groups:

Regional groups provide opportunities for alumni, parents and friends to interact with fellow Owls in their community and stay connected to Rice. Alumni Relations, in conjunction with local volunteers, establish programs and services in alumni populated communities around the nation and the world. These groups provide alumni and friends the opportunity to continue their relationship with the university in three key areas: Creating Community, Lifelong Learning, and Supporting Students. For a complete list of regional groups, please click here

Owlumni Directory

At this time, the official alumni directory can only be accessed after graduation.  If you are a current student, we suggest you take advantage of the resources listed above.  After graduation, you can request access to the directory here by clicking on "New User" and filing out the form.
